Does the app work offline?
Yes. The entire dictionary is bundled on your device from install — no internet
connection is needed to look up a word. Only Pro features (camera OCR, handwriting
recognition, translator, voice input) need a connection the very first time, to
download a small model — after that they also work offline.
Is the Pro version a subscription?
No. It's a one-time purchase that permanently unlocks all Pro features, with no
recurring payment.
I got a new phone — how do I restore my Pro purchase?
Open Settings → "Restore purchase" (or the same button on the Pro screen). The app
checks your App Store / Google Play account and re-enables Pro automatically.
Where do the definitions and example sentences come from?
The dictionary draws on JMdict, KANJIDIC2, KRADFILE/RADKFILE, JmdictFurigana,
jlpt-word-list, the Tanaka Corpus, and KanjiVG (for stroke-order animation). Full
licence and source details are available in the app, under Settings → "Sources &
licenses".
Why doesn't a kanji show stroke-order animation when I tap it?
Stroke-order data (from the KanjiVG project) currently covers about 62% of kanji in the
dictionary. Kanji without coverage show a "stroke order unavailable" message instead —
this isn't a bug, some characters simply aren't in the source data yet.
I found an error in a definition or example sentence.
