Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Annotium ("the App"), developed by Hoang Le ("we", "us", "our"), handles information when you use it. Annotium does not require an account, does not run its own server, and does not upload your photos anywhere on its own — most of what the App does happens entirely on your device. This policy also covers the third-party services the App relies on for crash reporting, analytics, and purchases.
1. Information We Do Not Collect
We do not require you to create an account, and we do not operate servers that store your photos, annotations, notes, or project files. Your photos and edits stay on your device (and in your device's photo library / iCloud or Google Photos backup, governed by Apple's or Google's own policies) unless you explicitly export or share them yourself.
2. Permissions the App Requests

You can decline or later revoke any of these permissions in your device's system settings; the App will simply be unable to offer the corresponding feature.
Voice typing and system speech recognition
Voice typing is optional and starts only after you tap the microphone. Annotium uses the speech-recognition service configured on your device (for example, a service provided by your device manufacturer, Apple, Google, or another provider). Depending on that service and your device settings, audio may be processed on the device or sent to that provider's servers for recognition. That provider's privacy policy and settings apply to this processing.
Annotium does not operate a speech-recognition service and does not receive, upload, or retain your voice audio or recognition transcript on its own servers. The recognized text is inserted into your annotation only after it is returned by the system service and is then stored locally with your project, like text you type manually.
3. Advertising
Annotium does not display advertisements, does not include any advertising SDK, and does not read your device's advertising identifier. Older versions (4.7.x and earlier) showed ads via Google AdMob, which could collect device identifiers for ad serving/measurement — that data was processed by Google, not by us. Updating removes this entirely; see Google's AdMob data policy if you still run an older version.
4. Crash Reporting
We use Firebase Crashlytics to understand crashes so we can fix bugs and improve the App. This data is technical/diagnostic (device model, OS version, crash logs) and is not linked to your photos or annotation content. See Firebase's privacy documentation.
Older versions (before 4.9.1): those versions also used Firebase Analytics to collect general, aggregated app usage (for example, which features are used and on which device types). Advertising-identifier collection was disabled in that configuration, so Analytics never received your device's advertising ID. Version 4.9.1 removes Firebase Analytics entirely; the App no longer collects usage-analytics data of any kind.
5. Purchases
In-app purchases (the PRO subscription and the legacy one-time purchases) are processed entirely by Apple's App Store or Google Play. We receive confirmation that a purchase was made (so the App can unlock the corresponding features) but we do not receive or store your payment card details — those are handled solely by Apple/Google under their own privacy policies.
6. Fonts and Network Access
If you use the App's optional Google Fonts catalog to browse or download additional fonts, your device fetches those font files directly from Google's font-serving infrastructure, subject to Google's own privacy policy. If you import your own local font files instead, nothing is sent anywhere. Voice typing may also use network access when the speech-recognition service selected on your device performs recognition remotely.
7. Data Storage and Retention
Your projects, photos, notes, and app preferences are stored locally on your device (and your device's own encrypted secure storage for purchase-entitlement flags). Uninstalling the App removes this local data. We do not retain a copy of it, since we never received it in the first place.
8. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through a third-party service integrated into the App, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
9. Your Choices
- Revoke camera, photo library, or location permissions any time in your device settings.
- Revoke microphone permission any time in your device settings to disable voice typing.
- If you are still on version 4.7.x or earlier, decline or reset ad tracking consent (App Tracking Transparency on iOS, or your device's ad settings on Android) to limit personalized advertising — or simply update the App, which has no ads.
- Uninstall the App to remove all locally stored data.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
